Robin, 40, from Meade in Kansas, decided to appear on the show not just for herself but for her entire family. After having already lost one sister to illness and with her nephew Garrett and brother Chris both suffering from morbid obesity, Robin was hoping to see some major changes for the entire family. While Robin was the feature of the episode, both Garrett and Chris saw some major screen time as viewers saw their intertwined stories. It was not an easy journey for Robin or for the rest of the family. Chris had originally planned to travel to Houston along with Robin for treatment with Dr Younan Nowzaradan but suffered a heart attack and was unable to travel with her. That was a major wake-up call to Chris son, Garrett, who already weighed in at 607lbs at the age of 20. Robin, who revealed she had been abused by the father as a child and also lost a baby after a previous boyfriend beat her when he found out she was pregnant, was also shocked by her first weigh-in, tipping the scales at 648lbs. But the overweight duo vowed to lose weight together. In one month Robin lost 33lbs while Garrett shed 22lbs. This was not enough for Dr Nowzaradan who refused to approve them for weighloss surgery until they lost more. So Robin, her husband James and Garrett moved to Houston. But Robin was hospitalized with an infection and only lost 9lbs. But after going on a 600-calorie a day diet managed to lost a whopping 87lbs. Garrett was approved for surgery first after getting down to 531lbs while Robin had her surgery a short time later. At the end of 12 months, Robin had shed a total of 254lbs and went on a date for the first time in years with James while Garrett had lost a total of 270lbs and has started to train as a welder. *BACKGRID DOES NOT CLAIM ANY COPYRIGHT OR LI
