Multi-day demonstration in Berlin 1962 after death of the wall victim Peter Fechter

American military police officers are evacuating the foreigner transition Checkpoint Charlie in Berlin on the evening of 19th August 1962 and proceed against passersbys with carabines on Friedrichstraße to Kochstraße. There were demonstrations and protest actions for three days in West Berlin after the death of the 18-year-old GDR refugee Peter Fechter, who was shot during an escape attempt by GDR border guarts and bled to death on the border strip on 17th August 1962. Thousands of Berlins demonstrated mostly on evenings or at night with marches through the city. A Soviet vehicle got pelted with stones in West Berlin, there were heavy conflicts with the police.
