Estranged from her husband David, Stephanie had moved in with a lover and was trying to keep her affair quiet. But just five weeks after starting her new life Stephanie disappeared. Husband David passed a polygraph and was eliminated as a suspect as investigators zeroed in on her new boyfriend Wayne Guidry Jr. His story kept changing and he had cashed a $3,000 check from Stephanie and left town the morning she went missing. Cops tracked him down to his best friend Erik DufreneÕs place. And Erik revealed Wayne was obsessed with a hole in the ground in the woods near where he would drive out with Stephanie to make love in her car. But with hundreds of miles of woods to search detectives had no idea where to start searching Ð until they spoke to GuidryÕs father Wayne Sr, who gave them a hand drawn map showing where the hole was. After 150 people searched the area, detectives discovered StephanieÕs decaying body dumped in the bottom of the hole. Guidry, who claimed he was innocent, was arrested and charged with murder. The trial lasted for seven days. The jury came back in just two hours with their verdict: guilty. And when sentencing time came, Guidry, 31, was sentenced to life in prison without possibility of parole.
