Katherine Ðknown as Kit to her friends Ð began an affair but the guilty overcame her and she confessed all to her husband Gregory. They tried to keep the marriage going but it was over. Gregory moved out and Kit filed for divorce. But just six days before the divorce was finalized in January 1983, Kit was murdered. Her throat was slashed so violently her head was almost decapitated from her body. She was found by her brother Joe and her new boyfriend Henry. Detectives quizzed Henry and Gregory but there wasnÕt enough evidence to prove that either men did it. Henry had a solid alibi as did Gregory. The case went cold and Gregory moved to another state. Then in 1999 Cold Case Detective Boyd Underwood pulled KitÕs case files out of storage and took another look. Now DNA technology had advance in leaps and bounds Ð so he had the evidence tested which proved GregoryÕs DNA was mixed with KitÕs blood. Underwood interview Gregory who stuck to his originaly story and the prosecutor refused to file charges, stating there wasnÕt enough evidence. Underwood kept working on the case and in 2007 he convinced the DA to charge Gregory with first degree murder. The case went to trial but ended in a hung jury 6-6. The prosecutor charged Gregory again and they went back to court in 2010. This time it took a jury just 2 days to come back with a guilty verdict. Almost 30 years after KitÕs murder and thanks to new DNA technology her estranged husband was convicted of her murder and sentenced to 25 years to life in prison.
