Her pal who she was playing with told cops a man had taken her so an all-out search was conducted. But Corrine's family were left devastated when just hours later her body was found dumped in a trucking yard. She had been raped and smothered to death. Cops worked round the clock to try and find her killer, even zeroing in on her uncle Ron Davies as a suspect at one point. But soon the weeks, months and then years went by and there was still no arrest. Then seven years later one of the lead detective Terry Alm decides to have all the evidence retested in the hope new DNA technology can help. He has the lab retest semen and a single pubic hair found at the scene retested and this time there's a match in the system - Clifford Sleigh. Sleigh is arrested and during a police interview admits kidnapping and raping Corrine but insists she was still alive when he left her. Police don't believe him and charge him with first degree murder. Sleigh goes to trial in May 2005 with him still denying her murdered the youngster. But it takes a jury just one day of deliberations to come back with a guilty verdict. Sleigh is sentenced to life in prison.
