JOHN AMERY HANGED Despite an eleventh hour bid to save him, made by his father the Rt. Hon. Leoplold S Amery, former secretary of State for India, John Amery was executed for treason at Wandsworth Prison, London. the appeal made to members of the Cabinet, was based on the state of John Amery's health. He had persisted in his original plea of "Guilty", and the death penalty was carried out.
