EXCLUSIVE: A British couple who decided to spice up their Barbados holiday by inviting a Jamaican woman to their beach-front hotel in the early hours ended up in court for breaching the islands strict anti-Covid laws. Security guards spotted a woman climbing over the hotels wall and entering the Treasure Beach, St James, after midnight having being invited to the room where holidaymakers Andrew Luker and Julia Knightley were staying. Police were called two hours later when a security guard found Jamaican Mikaela Jacas with the couple on their patio. Crane engineer Luker, from Rochdale, and blonde Knightley, a beautician from Cheadle Hulme, Greater Manchester, both pleaded guilty and blamed ignorance for inviting the woman to their room while still awaiting the results of a test for coronavirus. The were each fined GBP 2,200, freed on GBP 7,000 bail, and warned they would be jailed for nine months if they didnt pay within seven days. Ms Knightley, 41, a single mother-of-four and qualified nurse, made national news headline several years ago when she used provocative images of herself in revealing underwear to promote her cosmetic clinic. She apologized after being accused of being unprofessional over the raunchy way in which she advertised her non-surgical cosmetic clinic in her town. A saucy picture of a scantily-clad girl in black lingerie sitting on a throne and surrounded by whips and paddles is still on the cover of the Face Book page for the beauty salon she runs in her home town. The website states: "Slip into a world of opulent grandeur and exclusive elegance, and indulge your desire for passion and pleasure. With the right password, and the right knock at the door, you can find out more about our sensational anti wrinkle treatments at Julia Knightley in Cheshire." On Wednesday she and Luker appeared before the same magistrate who spared Love Island star Zara Holland jail for a similar breach of Covid regulations. Ms Knightley said ignorance of the law was no excuse for their actions. She admitting to knowing they could not leave the hotel while awaiting test results - but claimed she didnt know they couldnt invite guests to their room. Mr Luker said he totally regretted what had happened, adding: Beyond that there is nothing to say besides to apologies. Magistrate Ian Weekes said he was baffled' by the couples actions. And he said if they had been infected with Covid their actions could have led to it being spread among the local community. The couple arrived on the island on December 28 and are scheduled to leave on January 9. 06 Jan 2021 Pictured: Julia Knightley. Photo credit: MEGA TheMegaAgency.com +1 888 505 6342
