Doctor murders his wife with carbon monoxide poisoning

He also found comfort in an old friend, Esther Erkman. They comforted each after Kathy died in a bizarre accident when she was killed by carbon monoxide poisoning Labour Day weekend in 2006. Mark and Kathy were sleeping in separate rooms at the time, so he woke up after hearing an alarm go off. But it was too late for Kathy. Mark moved on and married Esther Ð but KathyÕs family didnÕt believe it was an accident and threatened to go to the media unless detectives looked further into the case. They soon realised the coupleÕs marriage was in turmoil Ð and the more they dug the more they thought KathyÕs death wasnÕt an accident. After finding journals written by Mark in which he detailed the downfall of his marriage and what he wanted to do to Kathy, detectives went back over all the evidence and came to the conclusion that he rigged up a system to gas Kathy to death. Mark was charged and it took a jury just two days to find him guilty of aggravated murder. He was sentenced to life in prison.
