Pictured here is: Robin Doan Robin Doan was fast asleep in her bed when the gunshots woke her up. Just ten years-old, Robin was petrified as the shots rang out. She slipped out of bed and crouched behind her bedroom door, peering through the crack of the door, which was partially open. Robin didnÕt know it then but her stepfather Brian Conrad had just been shot three times at close range. The gunman then fired two shots into Molly, the family dog before turning the gun on ConradÕs 35-year-old pregnant wife and RobinÕs mother, Michell, who was screaming. She was shot six times. Dressed completely in black and toting an AK-47, 23 year-old Levin King had randomly stopped at the ConradÕs remote farmhouse on the outskirts of the small panhandle town of Pampa in Texas. The shootings came just 24 hours after King started his killing spree in Missouri, gunning down Orlie McCool and his daughter-in-law Dawn McCool and stealing their vehicle. After his rampage through the house, King had driven to El Paso, crossed the border into Mexico, and for some reason, decided to return only hours later. He was detained by U.S. Border Patrol officers who found guns in his car. After they fingerprinted him and pulled his file, they saw that he was wanted for questioning about some Missouri shootings. Within a few days, he calmly confessed to the killings in both Missouri and Pampa. He explained that he had gotten angry because his father had kicked him out of the house back in Missouri, and he had decided to go out and shoot people. Robin bravely testified at a trial to see if he would get life in prison or the death penalty. It took a jury 7 hours to decide he should spend the rest of his life behind bars. Today, Robin has rebuilt her life and is attending a university to become a pediatric nurse to help other kids in trouble.
