(dpa files) - Helmut Kohl (rear), German chancellor from 1982 to 1998, listens attentively as Nelson Mandela, President of South Africa, speaks in front of German parliament in Bonn, 22 May 1996. In his speech he thanked the Germans for supporting the fight of the black people against apartheid in South Africa. Mandela was the fifth foreign head of state ever invited to speak in front of the German Bundestag. The South African President had come on a three-day state visit. | usage worldwide
