Crowds throng Brooklands for great Easter opening meeting . Easter holiday crowds thronged the Brooklands track , Surrey , in their thousands to watch the racing in the opening meeting of the year on the track , Easter Monday . Sir Malcolm Campbell with his Bluebird in which he established the world record , Kaye Don in his Tiger II , and Sir Henry Birkin were among the attractions . The crowd in the gallery watching the cars lined up for the first race , won by L P Driscoll in Captain Waite 's Austin , at an average speed of 95.97 miles an hour . 28 March 1932
