LABOUR PARTY LAWMAKER ORR AFTER REMARKS ABOUT JEWS OF EASTERN AND AFRICAN ORIGINS

JER03:ISRAEL-LABOUR:JERUSALEM,29JUL98 - Prominent Israeli labour party lawmaker and former Major-General, Ori Orr walks past a body guard in the corridors of his offices July 29 after publication of remarks he made yesterday that are offensive to Jews of Middle Eastern and African origin. Orr said he viewed the Jews of Moroccan origin as the "most problematic ethnic group" and his Labour party was put on the offensive in the Knesset later July 29, when they tabled a preliminary bill calling for early elections.
