Shooting of the film 'Sonnenallee' in Berlin

Detlev Buck in the role of a GDR national police officer captured during the shooting of the film 'Sonnenallee' at the Babelsberg film studio in Potsdam, former GDR, 30 September 1998. A little of East Berlin's everyday life was recreated for the film. The film tells a love story in the 70s, which takes place in East Berlin's border area on 'Sonnenallee' street. 'Sonnenallee' street, which runs from the district Neukoelln in West Berlin to Treptow in East Berlin, was divided by the Berlin Wall until 1989.
