Joe DiMaggio

Determined fans of New York Yankees Joe DiMaggio crowd their hero for autographs at Game 3 of the World Series at the Polo Grounds, Oct. 8, 1937. The Yankees beat the New York Giants 5-1 to extend their lead in the Series to three games to none. The 1937 Series was a rematch of the 1936 Fall Classic between the two intracity rivals. DiMaggio, in his second year with the Yankees, had a respectable Series, batting .273 with one home run and four RBIs. That Game 5 homer helped the Yankees cruise to their second of four straight championships, four games to one. (AP Photo)
