THE END OF A U-BOAT VICTIM. PHOTO SHOWS:- A column of dense black smoke rising from the torpedoed French merchant vessel "Emile Miguet" as she sinks into the Atlantic after being attacked by a German U-boat. The picture was made from the U.S. liner "President Harding", which went to the French shipâä™s aid. The crew, however, had been rescued by another ship. Previously, the "President Harding" had picked up two lifeboats bearing the complete crew of the British merchant vessel "Heronspool", also victim of a submarine attack. 31 October 1939
