Orig. bildtext... THE PRINCE OF WALES CHAMPIONS VAN-DWELLERS. Van dwellers at Stanley, Durham, threatend with eviction by the local council, are the special interest of the Prince of Wales. The Prince has written to the council asking for the facts following an appeal by men who are unable to obtain council houses and are advised to enter the workhouse. Mr. G. Williams, one of the ex-Service men in the vans, who has received from the Prince an acknowledgement of his letter, said that he, his wife, and 3 children have an income of 29s. 3., yet the council, with no houses to offer, wanted to force them into the workhouse. Photo shows: A typical scene in the caravan colony at South Moor, near Stanley, Durham. The colony is inhabited by ex-Service men and their families. Anm.
