Civil Rights Housing 1963

State police surround an unidentified racial demonstrator after they knocked him to the ground with their clubs, Aug. 31, 1963 during a racial demonstration in Folcroft, Pa., a suburb of Philadelphia. Demonstrators were protesting that Mr. and Mrs. Horace Baker, a young black couple, had moved into an all-white neighborhood. Rocks, bottles, brickbats and firecrackers were thrown at the house and photographers became the prime target of the crowd who resented the press. (AP Photo/John F. Urwiller)
