Egypt's antiquities department chief Zahi Hawass talks to the press on December 22, 2008 about rock-cut tombs newly discovered at the Saqqara necropolis about 35 kms south of Cairo. Egypt's culture minister Faruk Hosni announced yesterday that an Egyptian archaeological mission headed by Hawass has discovered two new rock-cut tombs in Saqqara, 400 meters south of the famous step-pyramid (background). One of the tombs belonged to a King's official and the other to a Fifth Dynasty singer who lived and performed over 4000 years ago. AFP PHOTO/SAMEH SHERIF
