SWITZERLAND TUNNEL FIRE

Smoke billows from an exhaust exit of the Gotthard tunnel near Airolo, Switzerland, on Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2001. A fire broke out inside the 15 km (9.5 mile) tunnel after a head-on crash between two trucks. There were no immediate reports on the cause of the accident nor on the number of victims.
