EGYPT-ARCHAEOLOGY

A general view shows the Saqqara necropolis with the step pyramid in the background, about 35 kms south of Cairo on December 22, 2008. Egypt's culture minister Faruk Hosni announced yesterday that an Egyptian archaeological mission has discovered two new rock-cut tombs in Saqqara, 400 meters south of the famous step-pyramid. One of the tombs belonged to a King's official and the other to a Fifth Dynasty singer who lived and performed over 4000 years ago. AFP PHOTO/SAMEH SHERIF
