Franklin D. Roosevelt visits the Grand Coulee Dam, 1937

The American President Franklin Delano Roosevelt visits the huge construction site of the Grand Coulee Dam. Right next to Roosevelt stands Frank A. Banks, the chief engineer of the project. The Grand Coulee Dam is a dam which was built in the years 1935-41 in a gorge of the Columbia River. It serves for the flood control, electricity generation and irrigation.
