Nikita Khrushchev, Rodion Malinovsky

As Soviet Premier Nikita Khrushchev shakes his fist during his triage at a news conference on May 18, 1960 at the Palais de Chaillot in Paris. The man who has not left his side during the Paris visit, defense minister Marshal Rodion Malinovsky sits beside him and looks suitably stern. But at lower right his face creases in a grin as Khrushchev makes a pun at the expense of the west. In his address before the question-and-answer portion of the news conference, the Soviet Chieftan denounced President Eisenhower for his policy on intelligence flights and blamed. The President for the collapse of the short-lived summit conference. (AP Photo)
