EGYPT-ARCHAEOLOGY

A detail from the Iya-Maat tomb discovered recently is shown to the press on December 22, 2008 at the Saqqara necropolis about 35 kms south of Cairo. Egypt's culture minister Faruk Hosni announced yesterday that an Egyptian archaeological mission headed by antiquities department chief Zahi Hawass has discovered two new rock-cut tombs in Saqqara, 400 meters south of the famous step-pyramid. The tomb is named after Iya-Maat, who supervised the construction mission of King Unas, the last ruler of Egypt's 5th Dynasty. AFP PHOTO/SAMEH SHERIF
