Jun. 23, 1969 - A freight car carrying munitions for the military exploded in a freight yard, killing twelve people and injuring several others in Hannover on June 22. Sabotage is not suspected in the accident. 17.5 caliber shells were among those that shot out when the vehicle exploded. Pictured: A deep crater was created by the explosion.
