Over 180,000 miles delivering letters - Cornish postman's record . About to retire at the age of 78 , is Mr William Osborne , postmaster of Newmill and Ding Dong , Cornwall , who has the proud record of delivering letters over some of the wildest and roughest country in West Cornwall , for the past 63 years . Delivering each day , Mr Osborne reckons he has travelled more that 180,000 miles . There have been Osbornes and the third generation will take over ,.
