Father Joseph Cocker, 25, one of the young Roman Catholic priests who have publicly expressed views contrary to their church's teaching on birth control, leaves the presbytery in Winchester, Hampshire, Feb. 25, 1965, after an hour-long interview with the Vicar-General of the Portsmouth Diocese. After the interview, Father Cocker, assistant priest of St. Mary's Ryde, Isle of Wight, announced he had been suspended from preaching. Father Cocker has supported Father Arnold McMahon, another 25-year-old priest, who was called to Rome earlier this week to explain views he expressed in a newspaper article, and subsequently disowned by his order.
