Deep in a storage room in the basement of the state capitol of Georgia, rotting in trunks and boxes since 1867, are tens of thousands of dollars worth of currency that isn?t worth the paper it is printed on. The bills and banknotes were issued by the state of Georgia prior and during the War between the States. Treasury officials can?t get rid of the worthless bills as the legislature has never given the necessary authority. Here pretty Miss Ella Roberts, employed in the treasury office, shows tree of the old bills shown Oct. 27, 1950. (AP Photo/HWC)
