Adenauer during election campaign

Former German chancellor Konrad Adenauer (l), here with minister Paul Lücke (r), intervenes for the last time in the election campaign for the state election in North-Rhine Westphalia, which his son Max Adenauer ran for, on the 28th of June in 1966 in Cologne. Adenauer was first chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany from 1949 to 1963. As co-founder and long-term chairman of the CDU, his politics were shaped by social market economy, the unification of Europe and Anti-Communism.
